Pontefract Crematorium

Pontefract Crematorium on Wakefield Road was opened in 1959 and since this time the building and grounds have undergone various refurbishments to provide contemporary cremation services. The large chapel is now fully central heated with seating for 100 people and it is fitted with the technology required for any special requests including discs, tapes or records. The crematorium building is situated within beautiful surroundings on a 7.5 acre site, interspersed with lawned areas, flagged paths and rose beds. There are also a number of large, ornate trees to create a tranquil resting place for loved ones. An electronic book of remembrance has been created that displays scanned copies of all pages contained within the Pontefract Crematorium books of remembrance. The crematorium is open between 9am and 5pm Monday to Thursday, 9am to 4:30pm on a Friday and weekends 9am to 5pm between April and October and 9am and 4pm between November and March.
