Bollands Funeral Directors in Birstall, West Yorkshire, is a long-established independent funeral directors servicing the Batley area since 1918. James and Robert both live and have work in Birstall and surrounding districts and know their local community very well and are well respected. The business began as builders, joiners and undertakers trading in the name Bollands from its original owner Ben Bolland. Bollands Funeral Directors been members of the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD) for over 30 years. Our funeral home on a corner plot has been converted from an old stone built co-op general store to a modern facility. We offer a warm welcoming space for you which includes a well-appointed reception area and private viewing rooms. We provide a 24-hour service with complete arrangements for both burial and cremation. We ensure all aspects are taken care of including paperwork, contacting the clergy, liaising with doctors, hospitals, the council, crematoriums and other services. The present owner Robert Edmond has been in the business for over 30 years, taking over from his father James who retired in 2003. The funeral side of the business started with the joiners making solid coffins for their customers. The last solid wood coffin we made was in 1983, with the advent of mass production it was more cost effective to buy them in, especially with the choice that is available now. We use modern hearse and limousines and can provide a wide selection of coffins and caskets. These include low cost cardboard, foil, veneered wood, solid wood, natural willow, sea grass, bamboo or wool coffins or caskets. At Bollands Funeral Directors, we provide support during the arrangements of a funeral service. Our professional and friendly support guides those we work with through difficult circumstances and challenging times. We can cater for both traditional and bespoke ceremonies as well as religious, civil and non-religious. Our office in Birstall is located on Kirkgate.
