The entrance to Woodvale crematorium is located a mile from the city centre on Lewes Road. The North and South Chapels were built in 1856 and refurbished in 2013, located either side of the crematorium building. Each chapel provides free parking, a waiting room, system for downloading music, seating for 80 mourners, an electric organ, screen to display images and hearing aid loops. The North Chapel is more suited to religious services as it features an altar and stained glass window. The Extra Mural Chapel is located quite a distance from the crematorium. Built in 1851 this Grade II listed building and it can be used on certain days of the week for a service prior to a cremation or it can be used for memorial purposes. It can seat 80 people. Viewing can be arranged prior to a service by contacting the office. The grounds are open throughout the year but there are some seasonal changes. Between October and March the opening times are 9am to 4pm Monday to Saturday and 11am to 4pm on Sunday and public holidays. Between April and September the opening hours are slightly longer. Monday to Friday, Woodvale crematorium is open between 9am and 5:30pm and on Sundays and public holidays 11am to 5:30pm.
