South Shields Crematorium

South Shields Crematorium has been providing cremation services since it opened in 1961 and the crematorium is open to everyone, regardless of faith or religious belief. The crematorium grounds are vast and they feature well maintained gardens including a variety of trees, shrubs and borders providing a peaceful setting for a memorial garden. Cremated remains can be scattered in the Garden of Remembrance if required. Open days are held regularly so the public can see behind the scenes of the crematorium and gain a better understanding of the process. Opening times are 08:30am to 4pm Monday to Thursday, 08:30am to 3pm on a Friday, 08:30am to 4pm on a Saturday and 11am to 3pm on a Sunday and public holiday. The grounds are also open on Mother’s Day and Fathers Day between the hours of 9am and 5pm.
