WR Bettelley Funeral Directors are a fully independent family firm, established in 1905 by William Bettelley, serving the communities of Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire. William Bettelley had his own public transport and carriage business, but he was also engaged in the carpentry and funeral trade and today’s company is housed on the very site where he ran his business in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Today, we endeavour to deliver a comprehensive and professional service that succeeds thanks to the close personal involvement of our funeral directors at every stage of the process, just as we have for generations of families locally down the years. At WR Bettelley Funeral Directors we work hard to provide the kind of funeral that truly matches the requirements and wishes of each individual family and communicates the individuality and unique nature of the deceased every time. In the late 19th and early 20th Century, William Bettelley operated a public transport company comprising of an open carriage and horses. He also had a carpentry and funeral business; making the funeral furnishings in the upstairs workshops of the existing buildings, where the horses were stabled down below. WR Bettelley Funeral Directors is still housed on that very same site today, maintaining a traditional, sensitive and dignified service as an independent family owned business which has been serving generations of the same families in the North Staffordshire area since 1905. We can offer both traditional and modern funeral services and ceremonies depending on your needs and wishes, and can provide a variety of different vehicles for the funeral cortege including standard motorised hearses or even a motorcycle with side-car hearse. Or perhaps you may wish to dispense with the hearse altogether and meet up at the crematorium or graveside. Whatever you decide, we can help you.
