Herkes Funeral Directors is an independent, family owned business covering Gorebridge and surrounding areas. A family owned and managed company, Herkes Funeral Directors comprises a husband and wife team of Allan and Awdri Doyle, nee Herkes.. Awdri comes from Gorebridge originally and comes from a funeral directing family, and caring for the bereaved is in her blood. Allan is a Galashiels native, and he takes the job of helping out the community members in their hour of bereavement very seriously. At Herkes Funeral Directors, we will always endeavour to make you feel welcome. Our funeral home is free of the decor you might expect of wooden paneling and net curtains - we have a bright and well-lit interior. As soon as you walk in we will listen as you tell us about your requirements, and about the deceased. Some people know exactly what they would like, and others don't know where to start. While most people in the area tend to go for a traditional funeral service, we can accommodate pretty much any request. Whatever your situation and unique requirements, we will always deliver what you want. Anything should be possible from a funeral, provided that the dignity of and respect towards the deceased are not compromised. We will never rush or pressure you into making a decision. We believe that a funeral is a very important part of the grieving process, and you need to find the right way of saying goodbye. Our funeral home has a chapel of rest so that you can visit the deceased at any time of day and spend as long as you wish. We are more than happy for you to take an active role in washing and dressing the deceased in preparation for the funeral service. should you wish to do so. Should you wish to hold the service at our funeral home, we have the space to accommodate around 40 people
