Grindall's of Wem, Funeral Directors, are proud to be Wem’s only completely independent fourth generation firm of family funeral directors. Our family-run firm of funeral directors has a strong and lengthy history in the area, and are known for providing quality funerals delivered to the highest standards of professionalism. In 1931 Joseph Henry Grindall bought the business from his brother in law Vivian Wellings and, soon after the end of World War II, his sons Jabez and Vivian joined him. The business and was renamed J H Grindall & Sons and Jabez and Vivian continued to run the business until 1988, when it was sold to Mr Alan Painter of Frank Painter & Sons, Funeral Directors of Shrewsbury, whose sons Chris and Mike Painter faithfully honour the firm's traditional family-run values by overseeing every funeral personally. We endeavour to provide every possible form of help, advice and assistance to each bereaved family that we are proud to serve. At Grindall's of Wem, we fully appreciate just how difficult a time this can be for you and your family, as you come to terms with the loss of someone dear to you, and we strive to ensure our services help ease any trauma and uncertainty you may be feeling. We can offer you assistance on many additional services for the funeral including newspaper announcements, personalised Order of Service cards, books of remembrance, a varied selection of coffins and caskets to choose from, and advice on floral tributes and catering for receptions after the funeral. Grindall's of Wem also have a chapel of rest in which we take great care of your loved one prior to the funeral and where you are welcome to visit them and say your farewells in privacy and comfort.
