Yardley cemetery opened in 1993 and it includes a 64 acre site. In 1952, one of the chapels in the grounds was converted into a crematorium by the Council. The crematorium offers visitors a 45 minute service in a chapel which can accommodate 166 mourners. There is a waiting room and vestry available and disabled facilities including an induction loop system and Braille hymn books if these are required. Once the service is concluded, families can scatter cremated remains in the gardens of remembrance. There are multiple memorial options including a Barbican, book of remembrance, plaques, kerbs, boulders and much more, allowing bereaved families to create a place where they can visit and remember departed loved ones. The grounds are open around the year with slightly different opening times in the winter and summer. Between October and April, the grounds are open between 08:30am and 4:30pm (4pm between October and April), Monday to Friday. Weekend opening times are 10am until 5pm, closing slightly earlier at 4pm in January and December.
