Baba passed away in 2009 after a bout with cancer lasting six months. He kept the illness undisclosed and untreated till the last one month by which time it was too late. Baba was an uncomplicated person with a clear set of values. We grew up in modest financial circumstances but there was no compromise on honesty and integrity. I remember my childhood days when Baba used to walk in the ICF colony park with me on his shoulder or tottering behind. Later, he was very excited when I obtained admission to the prestigious Bengal Engineering College, Shibpur, in the summer of 1985. I will always cherish these memories.
