James Taylor Gallagher

James Taylor Gallagher

1st Apr 1960 - 4th Apr 2021
61 years
James "Jamie" Taylor Gallagher passed away peacefully at home at 2pm on Easter Sunday aged 61, having faced his year-long battle with cancer with stoicism and good grace. He was the much-loved husband to Liz, devoted Father to Abigail, and sibling to Billy, Peter, Stuart and Bobby. He will never be forgotten. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, he spent his childhood at Quarriers Homes, before joining the army at 15, where he served as Lance Corporal of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders (Princess Louise's) between June 1975 to April 1990. He was attached to the Royal Anglian Regiment in the Colchester Barracks when he left, to work as a County Court Bailiff at Colchester County Court. He would work there for 25 years. He also worked for a time as a Night Porter at The Essex Golf Club and Hotel, and was a Support Worker at Thera Colchester at the time of his passing. Fond of fishing, pool and swimming, he was kind and generous man who was always willing to lend a helping hand, and enjoyed fixing up and building things such as his handmade shed and a caravan and a campervan.
