James Ashley Dewar, known to many as Ash, was born in Sedgefield, County Durham on 1st September 1941. Ash was an avid sailor, with an interest for boats that lasted his entire life. During his early years, Ash joined the British Merchant Navy, where he learned many skills that would aid him throughout his life; his ability to cook delicious meals, such as Sunday roasts, cottage pies, and seafood, was one such skill he learned from his time there. One of his proudest accomplishments was navigating and sailing around the world. Since time, Ash showed a great interest in motor vehicles and motorsport. He enjoyed watching shows such as Top Gear and Formula One, and had a particular love for Mercedes-Benz, often rooting for Lewis Hamilton to win. He also enjoyed watching football, and was a fan of Manchester United and Coventry City. Ash had a love for comedy, enjoying shows such as Only Fools and Horses and Mrs. Brown's Boys. He also had a real love for animals, especially dogs; he often spoke positively of their unconditional affection and loyalty. Ash spent his last days at Allambie Court, Nuneaton, where he was well cared for. He passed away on 10th June 2020 after being unwell for some time. He died peacefully in the company of his family.
