When Iris Joan Bourne was born on 1 June 1929 in London, London, her father, Edwin, was 42, and her mother, Florence, was 38. She married Alfred Thomas North in October 1952. They had three children during their marriage. She died on 18 March 2009 in Houghton Regis, Bedfordshire, at the age of 79.
