Auntie Flora, What can I say, she's been around all of my life. She's been there for all the highs and the low's. I'll share a few with you that still make me smile. First day starting school at Renton Public and Auntie Margaret was there too. Or the day, as a small child I turned that gas stove on and you bent over to light a cigarette and luckily only singed your hair. At first you got a fright then you started laughing as did everyone else. Then you looked in the mirror and realised your brows, lashes and your whole fringe was gone. Feeding and riding the horses behind Bonhill Church from sitting round the Leven on Sunny days having a wee picnic with all the weans and my Mammie Daisy. The time she asked me as a teenager to go into the street and shout for her dog named 'shaggy' named so because of his shaggy coat. I think he was an Irish wolf hound cross if I remember right. I was halfway out the door when I remembered his name and came back in to tell her I wasn't doing it. With a straight face she said 'how no! she then started laughing at my predicament and unashamedly called him in herself. Or the night Curlew- the horse which lived at the bottom of the brae and peeled the skin right of my shins when it kicked me as I stood nearby. All she could do was laugh whilst bathing it and saying it was my own fault because I had stood behind the horse. Through it all she always got something positive out of something negative. Even when my Mum died and my daughter, Janine, asked her why her Nana had to die the day before her birthday, Quickly, Auntie Flora replied, so you would always remember her, and saving me from having to explain the difficulties in my own time of grief. She was a tower of strength to me during this time and she'll never be forgotten for the love and kindness she showed to all of us. In November 2022 I had the pleasure of spending time together in Benidorm just floating about buying a dress for Beckys baby and then again in April this year when we had a boozy afternoon and almost fell in the door of the caravan. Only a few weeks ago, we enjoyed a lovely family night at Nicole's engagement party having a few laughs and shared pictures and stories of how the children were and her most recent great grandchild Amelia. There's many things she may be remembered for, from her no nonsense approach to 'sorting oot the wean's' to raising and loving and supporting her children and grandchildren, whilst managing the many challenges that motherhood can bring. I can honestly say that all my memories of you are a good ones and I can say that with all my heart. The time spent together was always precious, as my cousin Sharon said, even more precious now. You were precious, a precious Aunt to me and you will always be loved and fondly remembered by me and my little family...big loves and hugs Auntie Flora, Rest in Peace.x P.S. Bella says hi, and thanks for the Spanish dress and shoes. From your ever loving niece Rose
