My dad was an amazing man. He was the strongest and most loyal person I knew. He had a hard life growing up, when he was 2 years old, he contracted menagitis and subsequently became profoundly deaf. In this era, sign language was almost forbidden and he had to learn to lip read, although this stood him in good steed as he grew up, it made him feel alone and isolated whilst he was growing up and with his family. My dad did well for himself, he was a fully qualified joiner, his work was a piece of art, he took pride in all his work. He was a perfectionist. As I grew up and got my own house, he was the painter and decorator, nothing was to much trouble. He took pride in making my house a home. He was a great grandad to my daughter, helped me out immensely so I could pursue my career. He was a beautiful person, inside and out. Had a great sense of humour and the best laugh I have ever heard. I miss him dreadfully every day, he missed out on my wedding day, this day was bittersweet, but I believe he was there watching over me. my youngest daughter was born on his birthday, a blessing, a present from him, something to cherish for the rest of my life. When I see single feathers, I know he’s near by. I just wish I had the opportunity to spend more of my life with him. I know he would be amazingly proud of my achievements. I love him dearly and think about him every single day. Love you to the moon and back dad. Xxxxxxxx
