Sarah Atkinson

24th Sep 1925 - 23rd Sep 2019
93 years
Sarah, known to everybody as Sadie, was born on September 24th 1925 in Liverpool . She was one of a big but close family. When she was still very young she suffered the loss of her beloved father to whom she was devoted. She often spoke of him and the protection and love he gave her. He was a victim of World War 2 and his death had an effect on her life. Unfortunately, some years later she suffered a trauma that no parent should experience . Her first born child, John, although he was a strong and healthy baby, died from cot death at the age of three months . However, although Sadie, my mum, was not spared her share of sorrow, she was also blessed with her husband, friend and soul mate, my father John, to whom she was married for fifty years . They walked hand in hand until he died in 1997. Her other blessings were her grandchildren, Alex and Simon. She adored them and they her. We will miss her greatly but we like to think of her reunited to her husband and son and surrounded by her family members who preceded her - her parents, her sisters - Brenda, Nellie and Vera - and her brother Billy. RIP mum. You have deserved your rest. We love you

I have such lovely memories of my Auntie Sadie when visiting from the states. I loved when she came to visit us in Boston with Sandra and the boys. She was so happy to be all together. I will miss her but glad she is at peace and with her loved ones. My deepest sympathy to Sandra, Alex and Simon.
