James Cockburn Funeral Directors, established in 1932 by the late James Turnball Cockburn, is the last remaining independent business operating in the historical burgh of Govan. We are incredibly proud to have helped many families in the area through their most difficult time, and we continue to offer a high-quality and professional service to those families that need us yet. Shortly before the retiral of James Cockburn in 1974, the business was taken over by his nephew, Jim Henshelwood, in 1972 and is now in the third generation of the family. Jim has since been joined by his son, Gavin, who adopted the position of Managing Director in 2011. Over the years the business has continued to expand and improve with the original premises being completely renovated in 1984. Our comfortable and modern funeral home has been specifically designed to create a warm, peaceful atmosphere in which families can come and meet with our funeral directors in order to discuss the arrangements being made for their loved one. We also offer families access to a private chapel of rest where they can pay their respects to the deceased in complete privacy. At James Cockburn, all of our funeral directors are highly trained - each having received the British Institute of Funeral Directors Diploma, and under their compassionate care we can guarantee a professional and respectful funeral service, with great attentiveness and support provided to every family in order to fulfil their wishes, as well as those of their loved one.
