J. R. Jones & Co. (Dudley) formally Dainty & Downing

Formally known as Dainty & Downing, in 2020 following an extensive refurbishment, the premises were renamed J. R. Jones & Co. (Dudley) to bring it in line with our other funeral home of the same name in Gornal. G. S. Dainty and Sons was acquired in 2007 and merged with our existing office in Kates Hill called ‘John Downing’ to call the business ‘Dainty & Downing’. The office on St Johns Road was closed and relocated to 89 Dixon’s Green Road; G S Dainty’s existing property. Following our recent refurbishment there is now a comfortable arranging office for families to meet and discuss their requirements along with two large chapels of rest which can be used to hold small funeral services if required. We also have plenty of onsite parking available for visitors. The office is run on a daily basis by Claire who has worked for the company since 2013. She has a wealth of experience dealing with families from all faiths and as a company we can happily accommodate the different needs of families from West Indian, Sikh or Hindu backgrounds. Claire will also be able to give advice with regards making all the arrangements for other elements of a funeral including flowers or Order of Service to advice for making a funeral benefit claim with the DWP. Our parent company, N. E. Downing (Blackheath) Ltd have a long history of serving the communities of the whole Black Country area. The company originated from Vicarage Road in Blackheath but has grown to encompass 7 locations based around the West Midlands. As well as J. R. Jones & Co. (Dudley) we have also welcomed J.T. Brookes & Co, Hagley; J. T. Brookes & Co, Kingswinford; J.T. Brookes & Co, Brierley Hill; J. R. Jones & Co, Gornal and T Hadley, Blackheath into the N. E. Downing family. We are still operated and overseen today by the Downing family with brother and sister, William and Lucy overseeing the business on a daily basis. Over the years, we have developed a reputation providing sensitive and quality funeral services throughout the West Midlands and the Black County and it would be a privilege to assist you and your family in your time of need.
